LOCTITE EA 9514 Epoxy Adhesive is a toughened, one-component, heat-curing structural adhesive developed for applications requiring high shear strength, peel resistance, impact durability, and reliable performance at elevated temperatures. The gray, opaque epoxy paste is supplied ready to use, eliminating resin-to-hardener weighing and mixing. This simplifies industrial dispensing, reduces ratio errors, and supports consistent adhesive application in automated and manual production processes.
The thixotropic formulation remains in position after dispensing and provides gap-filling capability up to approximately 3 mm. It is especially suitable for magnet bonding, filter assembly, metal components, composite structures, electric motors, industrial equipment, and other applications exposed to impact, vibration, chemicals, or prolonged heat. The adhesive can be cured using conventional oven heating or induction-heating equipment.
LOCTITE EA 9514 Epoxy Adhesive combines controlled dispensing with excellent structural performance. Its typical Casson viscosity ranges from approximately 30,000 to 60,000 mPa·s at 25°C, while the specific gravity ranges from about 1.42 to 1.48. This viscosity profile allows the adhesive to fill uneven joints and maintain a stable bead on vertical or complex components without excessive sagging.
A typical curing schedule is 60 minutes at 120°C. Faster curing can be achieved at higher temperatures, including approximately 30 minutes at 150°C, provided all components tolerate the selected heating cycle. Cure time should begin after the adhesive bond line reaches the required temperature, and the final process must be confirmed using actual production equipment and parts.
After curing for 30 minutes at 150°C, the epoxy provides a typical tensile strength of approximately 44 MPa, tensile modulus of 1,460 MPa, compressive strength of 62 MPa, elongation of 5.8%, and glass-transition temperature of around 133°C. The listed thermal conductivity is approximately 0.3 W/m·K. These characteristics create a rigid yet tough bond suitable for mechanically and thermally demanding assemblies.
LOCTITE EA 9514 Epoxy Adhesive is particularly suitable for bonding permanent magnets in electric motors, generators, speakers, actuators, sensors, and industrial magnetic assemblies. It is also recommended for filter bonding and other applications where a strong bond must withstand impact, vibration, chemical exposure, and elevated operating temperatures. Henkel lists reliable service performance at temperatures up to approximately 200°C.
Representative lap-shear results after curing include approximately 45 MPa on grit-blasted mild steel, 40 MPa on prepared aluminum, 32 MPa on stainless steel, 28 MPa on zinc-dichromate surfaces, 25 MPa on brass, and 20 MPa on hot-dip galvanized steel. Its published 180-degree peel strength on grit-blasted mild steel is approximately 9.5 N/mm. Actual results depend on substrate preparation, joint geometry, bond-line thickness, curing conditions, and service exposure.
Before applying LOCTITE EA 9514 Epoxy Adhesive, ensure that all bonding surfaces are clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, dust, corrosion, oxide, and release agents. Abrasion or another suitable surface treatment may improve bond strength and long-term durability on selected metals and composite materials.
Dispense the adhesive directly from the cartridge and apply it evenly across the bonding area. Assemble the components immediately and secure them with an appropriate fixture to prevent movement during heating and curing. Avoid curing excessively large quantities because uncontrolled heat generation may occur.
Remove uncured excess with a compatible organic solvent after confirming substrate compatibility. Allow the joint to develop full strength before exposing it to mechanical load, thermal cycling, chemicals, or operating temperatures.
Store LOCTITE EA 9514 Epoxy Adhesive in its unopened original container in a dry location between approximately 2°C and 8°C. Do not return dispensed adhesive to the original cartridge because contamination can affect storage stability and curing performance.
For manufacturers requiring a no-mix structural epoxy for demanding thermal and mechanical environments, LOCTITE EA 9514 Epoxy Adhesive offers high impact resistance, excellent shear and peel strength, 3 mm gap filling, and dependable high-temperature bonding.
