3M DP100 Epoxy Adhesive is a two-component, fast-curing structural adhesive developed for strong, rigid bonding across metals, glass, ceramics, stone, wood, concrete, and many compatible plastics. Its low-viscosity clear formulation flows easily across prepared surfaces and into narrow joint areas, helping create neat assemblies where a transparent or minimally visible bond line is preferred. The cured adhesive can also be machined, making it useful for components that require drilling, sanding, trimming, or finishing after bonding.
This industrial epoxy uses a convenient 1:1 mixing ratio by volume. At approximately 23°C, it provides around five minutes of working and open time, allowing operators to dispense the adhesive, align components, and make limited positioning adjustments. Set time is typically 15 to 20 minutes, while the complete bond generally develops its final properties over approximately 24 to 48 hours, depending on adhesive temperature, joint dimensions, substrates, and curing conditions.
3M DP100 Epoxy Adhesive is formulated for high-flow application and reliable static-load holding. Typical uncured viscosity is approximately 8,000 to 15,000 cP for the epoxy base and 9,000 to 16,000 cP for the accelerator at 27°C. This relatively fluid consistency supports easy dispensing and natural leveling, but components should be positioned carefully to prevent the adhesive from flowing away from open or vertical joints.
After curing, the product forms a hard, rigid epoxy with a typical Shore D hardness of 82 and compressive strength of approximately 58 MPa. Representative seven-day overlap-shear results include about 6.9 MPa on prepared cold-rolled steel, 6.6 MPa on aluminum and copper, 6.2 MPa on galvanized steel, and 5.2 MPa on stainless steel. Published results also demonstrate adhesion to ABS, polycarbonate, acrylic, PVC, and fiber-reinforced plastic after suitable surface preparation.
The rigid cured structure makes the adhesive especially effective for close-fitting components exposed primarily to static and shear loads. It is less suitable than flexible or toughened epoxies for joints experiencing severe peeling, repeated impact, high vibration, or large differences in thermal expansion. Product selection should therefore consider the complete joint design and service conditions.
3M DP100 Epoxy Adhesive meets UL 94 HB and is intended for trained industrial and occupational users. Its clear appearance supports visible assemblies, signage, decorative components, glass fixtures, and applications where an opaque adhesive line would be undesirable. Minor variation from nearly clear to yellow or amber may occur without affecting adhesive performance.
3M DP100 Epoxy Adhesive can be used for general industrial attachment, electrical assemblies, appliances, construction components, consumer-goods manufacturing, transportation equipment, signs, displays, decorative structures, glass-to-metal parts, ceramic components, wooden assemblies, and plastic housings. It is also suitable for permanent attachment applications and components requiring machining after cure.
Actual performance depends on substrate grade, coating, surface condition, adhesive thickness, joint geometry, curing temperature, and environmental exposure. Representative testing should be completed before production, particularly on plastics, coated metals, stressed transparent materials, and assemblies exposed to chemicals or thermal cycling.
Before applying 3M DP100 Epoxy Adhesive, remove oil, grease, dust, moisture, oxide, paint, release agents, and other contamination. Plastic and rubber surfaces can typically be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol, lightly abraded, and cleaned again. Metals may require solvent degreasing followed by abrasion and a second cleaning step.
Install the Duo-Pak cartridge in a compatible 3M EPX applicator. Dispense a small amount without the nozzle to confirm that both components flow correctly, attach the proper static mixer, and apply the mixed adhesive promptly. Join the components within the five-minute open time and fixture them until adequate handling strength develops.
Store 3M DP100 Epoxy Adhesive in its unopened original packaging between approximately 16°C and 27°C, away from direct sunlight. The official technical data sheet lists a shelf life of 24 months from the manufacturing date under recommended storage conditions.
