TONSAN TS121 High-Penetration Sealant is designed for casting defects that are too small for ordinary rebuilding compounds. Instead of covering only the outer surface, the flowable liquid enters fine porosity and seals interconnected leakage paths within the casting. This can help manufacturers recover metal components that might otherwise require welding, extensive reworking, replacement or disposal.
The one-component format eliminates resin-to-hardener measurement and simplifies workshop application. Its low-viscosity flow supports controlled treatment of localized porous areas, while the green appearance helps operators observe where the product has been applied. The cured material provides high strength and dependable sealing performance for demanding industrial repairs.
This product is primarily intended for sealing shrinkage porosity and micro-shrinkage in alloy castings. Typical parts may include pump housings, valve bodies, gearbox cases, hydraulic components, engine castings, compressor parts, flanges, pressure-containing housings and other machined metal components that develop small leakage paths after casting or machining.
TONSAN TS121 High-Penetration Sealant is particularly valuable when the visible defect is small but connected internal pores allow air, oil, coolant or another service fluid to pass through the casting wall. It can support localized repair during pressure testing, quality inspection, production recovery and industrial equipment maintenance.
The suitability of each repair should be confirmed according to the casting alloy, operating pressure, service fluid, temperature range and safety requirements of the finished component. Critical pressure vessels and safety-related parts should be evaluated and approved by qualified engineering personnel.
The official TONSAN product guide identifies TS121 as a green, single-component, high-penetration material with a typical specific gravity of approximately 1.08. Published cured-property data include compressive strength of approximately 109 MPa and static shear strength of approximately 12 MPa.
The listed working-temperature range is approximately -60°C to 150°C. Standard packaging includes a 50 ml bottle under order number 012101, while a 250 ml bottle is also listed under order number 012105. Packaging and availability may vary by market, so current specifications should be confirmed before ordering.
These technical figures are typical reference values rather than guaranteed acceptance specifications. Actual performance depends on casting material, pore dimensions, surface condition, contamination, application quantity, curing conditions and service exposure.
Clean the defective area thoroughly and remove oil, coolant, dust, oxidation, loose particles and machining residue. The casting should be dry because contamination may block the pores or reduce penetration. Identify the suspected leakage area and position the component so the liquid remains over the defect during application.
Apply a controlled amount of sealant and allow it to penetrate the porous structure. Additional applications may be necessary when the casting absorbs the first layer quickly. Avoid excessive surface buildup and remove unwanted material from surrounding finished areas before it cures.
Allow sufficient curing before pressure testing, machining, coating or returning the part to service. Curing conditions and waiting times should follow the latest regional TONSAN Technical Data Sheet. Users should also wear appropriate personal protective equipment and review the current Safety Data Sheet before handling the product.
TONSAN TS121 High-Penetration Sealant combines low-viscosity penetration, one-component convenience, high compressive strength and a broad published temperature range. It offers manufacturers and maintenance teams a targeted method for sealing fine alloy-casting porosity without applying external pressure or heat.
The product can help reduce casting rejection, shorten repair time and preserve the dimensions of machined components.
