LOCTITE ECCOBOND DS 3318LV UV Coating combines fast curing, low-energy processing, good moisture resistance and high flexibility. These properties are important in display assemblies where fine electrical connections must remain protected during humidity exposure, temperature changes, handling and long-term operation.
The low-viscosity liquid flows easily around narrow component areas and supports accurate automated dispensing. Its one-part formulation simplifies material preparation, reduces mixing errors and enables consistent application in high-volume electronics production. After curing, the flexible coating helps absorb mechanical stress rather than forming an excessively brittle protective layer around sensitive connections.
Henkel also identifies strong adhesion to polyimide and glass as key advantages. This makes the material suitable for reinforcing joints involving flexible printed circuits, glass display panels and chip-on-glass assemblies. Low extractable ionic content further supports use around sensitive electronic conductors where contamination control is important.
The product is primarily designed for LCD module assembly and other display-manufacturing processes requiring dependable humidity reliability. A typical application is protective overcoating around ITO and COG areas, where the cured material helps shield fine conductive connections from moisture and mechanical stress.
LOCTITE ECCOBOND DS 3318LV UV Coating can also be used for COG reinforcement, FPC reinforcement and display-panel edge reinforcement. Potential applications include LCD panels, industrial displays, automotive displays, appliance control panels, communication devices, instrument screens and other electronic modules that contain glass, polyimide or flexible circuit structures.
The product should be evaluated with the actual substrate, coating thickness, dispensing method, light source and module design. UV transmission can vary between glass types, films and treated surfaces, so curing conditions must be validated on the production assembly rather than selected only from nominal lamp output.
The uncured material is a light-yellow transparent acrylic liquid with a typical viscosity of approximately 968 mPa·s at 25°C and a specific gravity of about 0.97. The official Technical Data Sheet lists a shelf life of 12 months when stored at the recommended temperature of 25°C in unopened packaging.
A representative curing condition uses a high-pressure mercury lamp with an irradiance of approximately 100 mW/cm². Under the stated test conditions, the coating can achieve a tack-free surface in approximately three seconds. Actual cure speed and depth depend on light intensity, wavelength distribution, exposure time, coating thickness and the light transmission of any substrate positioned between the lamp and the material.
Typical cured properties include a glass-transition temperature of approximately 64°C, tensile strength of about 13.3 N/mm² and volume resistivity of approximately 4.94 × 1016 Ω·cm. Henkel’s display-reinforcement information also reports elongation at break above 150%, demonstrating the flexibility needed to protect delicate display connections.
Ensure the application area is clean, dry and free from oil, dust, moisture and processing contamination. Dispense a controlled coating or reinforcement bead around the required ITO, COG, FPC or panel area. Avoid trapping air and maintain a consistent coating thickness across the protected section.
Cure the material with a validated UV, visible-light or UV LED system. Confirm the correct wavelength, irradiance, exposure time and lamp distance through production trials. Areas blocked from the light may not cure adequately, so component geometry and shadowing must be considered when designing the process.
LOCTITE ECCOBOND DS 3318LV UV Coating provides rapid light curing, low-viscosity dispensing, moisture resistance, electrical insulation and flexible reinforcement in one convenient system. It is a professional solution for LCD, COG, FPC and display-panel assemblies requiring dependable protection in humid operating environments.
