The 50% filled epoxy formulation combines a high glass-transition temperature, low extractable ionic content, fast curing, and excellent handling properties. Typical uncured viscosity is approximately 100,000 mPa·s at 2 rpm and 80,000 mPa·s at 20 rpm, with a specific gravity of about 1.65 at 25°C. This controlled shear-dependent flow supports accurate dispensing while giving process engineers flexibility to adjust material behavior through substrate temperature.
When dispensed onto a substrate heated to approximately 85°C to 100°C, the product functions as a flow-control dam. When applied to a substrate at approximately 45°C to 60°C, it flows more readily and operates as a fill encapsulant. This temperature-responsive behavior makes the material useful for electronic packages, component cavities, module protection, and casting processes requiring both boundary control and internal filling.
The recommended cure schedule is approximately five minutes at 140°C to 150°C. Published gel times are about five minutes at 121°C and three minutes at 140°C, although actual results depend on oven loading, assembly mass, dispensing volume, equipment accuracy, and measured part temperature. Manufacturers should validate the complete heating profile using representative production assemblies before approving high-volume processing.
After curing, LOCTITE ECCOBOND EO 1072 Epoxy Encapsulant provides a typical glass-transition temperature of 135°C, Shore D hardness of at least 90, and thermal conductivity of approximately 0.51 W/m·K. Its coefficient of thermal expansion is approximately 43 ppm/°C below Tg and 123 ppm/°C above Tg. The cured material also provides high electrical resistivity, supporting insulation and environmental protection in correctly designed electronic assemblies.
Allow the container to reach room temperature before use to reduce condensation risk and support consistent dispensing. Prepare components so the target area is clean, dry, and free from oil, dust, moisture, flux residue, release agents, and other contamination. Dispense the material using equipment suitable for high-viscosity, filled epoxy products and control substrate temperature according to whether a dam or fill profile is required.
The published pot life at 25°C is approximately 30 days, while shelf life is about 183 days when stored at the recommended 5°C. Keep unopened containers dry and refrigerated, protect the material from contamination, and never return dispensed product to the original package.
