Its low-outgassing characteristics make it particularly useful for selected electronic, telecommunications, and aerospace applications where contamination from volatile materials must be minimized. The adhesive may also be used for assemblies exposed to fuel, lubricating oil, water, solvents, elevated temperatures, or tropical humidity, subject to application-specific testing.

How to Apply ARALDITE 2014-1 Epoxy Adhesive

Before application, remove oil, grease, dust, moisture, oxidation, and loose contamination from both bonding surfaces. For stronger and more durable joints, metal surfaces may be mechanically abraded or chemically treated before receiving a final degreasing process.

Mix the resin and hardener at a ratio of 100:50 by weight or 100:50 by volume. Dual cartridges with compatible static mixers can help maintain the correct ratio and provide uniform mixing. Apply the mixed adhesive to the prepared surfaces, assemble the components promptly, and hold them securely in position while curing develops.

A bond-line thickness of approximately 0.05–0.10 mm normally provides strong lap-shear performance on closely fitted joints. Larger gaps may be filled when required, but the optimum thickness should be established through production testing.

Storage of ARALDITE 2014-1 Epoxy Adhesive

Store both components in their original sealed containers in a dry location within the manufacturer’s recommended temperature range. Under specified storage conditions, the resin and hardener have a stated shelf life of up to three years. Always check the expiration date and review the latest safety documentation before use.
