Henkel BONDERITE S-ST 9210 Industrial Paint Stripper for Steel

Category: Brand:
BONDERITE S-ST 9210 Industrial Paint Stripper is a high-alkaline liquid cleaner developed for removing industrial paint coatings from steel parts, fixtures, racks, hooks, tools, and production components. Formerly known as Novastrip 9210, the brown liquid is designed for heated spray or immersion processes and is intended exclusively for professional industrial use. Its concentrated formulation removes many commonly marketed paints while allowing operators to adjust bath concentration, temperature, circulation, and treatment time according to the coating system and production equipment.

BONDERITE S-ST 9210 Industrial Paint Stripper Performance

Henkel specifies the product for stripping paint from steel at elevated temperatures. The recommended operating range is approximately 80°C to 100°C, while the normal bath concentration is 300 to 500 g/L, equivalent to about 30% to 50%. Higher or lower concentrations may be used after practical trials. The correct setting depends on coating chemistry, paint thickness, bath design, agitation, and the required stripping time.

Typical density is approximately 1.39 g/cm³ at 20°C. Its composition is described as alkalis and glycol derivatives, and Henkel positions it as free from amines and solvents. Because paint systems vary, stripping time can range from a few minutes to several hours. Bath circulation can improve contact with coated surfaces and support more uniform processing.

Steel Paint Removal and Maintenance Applications

BONDERITE S-ST 9210 Industrial Paint Stripper can be used for production racks, paint-line hooks, steel fixtures, rejected painted parts, maintenance tools, metal carriers, and reusable components that must be cleaned before recoating or returned to service. It removes many industrial coating types, but compatibility and treatment time should be verified on representative parts before full-scale operation.

The cleaner can be applied by immersion or spray equipment manufactured from suitable steel. Regular monitoring is important because paint sludge, bath concentration, and the active depot phase influence stripping efficiency and bath life. In immersion tanks without agitation, the active phase may separate at the bath surface; in highly agitated systems, it becomes dispersed through the solution.

7 Benefits of BONDERITE S-ST 9210 Industrial Paint Stripper

  • Effective coating removal: Designed to strip many industrial paints from steel.
  • Spray or immersion use: Supports different equipment layouts and part geometries.
  • Adjustable concentration: Typically used at 300 to 500 g/L.
  • Hot working process: Operates at approximately 80°C to 100°C.
  • Controlled bath maintenance: Concentration can be monitored through titration.
  • Amine- and solvent-free positioning: Supports selected process requirements.
  • Industrial packaging: Henkel lists 23 kg and 1050 kg supply options.

Bath Preparation and Process Control

Begin bath preparation with cold water, then add the required quantity of BONDERITE S-ST 9210 while following approved chemical-handling procedures. Homogenize the solution before heating it to the working temperature. Henkel recommends checking concentration regularly by potentiometric titration to pH 8.5. Paint sludge should also be removed periodically to extend bath life and maintain stripping performance.

Rinsing, Passivation, and Safety

After stripping, rinse components thoroughly with high-pressure water to remove loosened paint and cleaner residue. Steel parts can corrode after rinsing, particularly if stored before the next production stage. Henkel therefore recommends a suitable passivation step or an approved passivation additive in the rinse water. BONDERITE S-FN 7400 is listed in the technical data sheet as one possible option.

This strong alkaline product is used at high temperature. Provide splash protection, ventilation, compatible equipment, emergency washing facilities, temperature controls, and suitable personal protective equipment. Review the safety data sheet before bath preparation, sampling, maintenance, transport, or disposal. The product is intended for industrial facilities and should not be handled like a household paint remover.

Storage and Official Henkel Resources

Store unopened original packaging at room temperature and protect it from contamination. Henkel lists approximately 12 months of shelf life in unopened packaging. The stated frost stability is above approximately -5°C, but transport and storage must follow the current label and regional safety documentation.
