LOCTITE Loctite AA3320 glue, single-component high-temperature resistant ultraviolet curing adhesive, UV adhesive.
LOCTITE AA 3320 UV-Curing Acrylic Adhesive is a one-component, medium-viscosity acrylated urethane adhesive designed for fast, flexible bonding of rigid or flexible PVC to polycarbonate. It also provides strong adhesion to glass, many plastics, and most metals, making it suitable for transparent assemblies, electronic components, display parts, appliance components, and other precision products. The colorless-to-light-yellow formulation cures with ultraviolet or visible light and creates a flexible bond line that improves load-bearing and shock-absorbing performance.
LOCTITE AA 3320 UV-Curing Acrylic Adhesive is especially useful when the assembly requires both gap filling and joint flexibility. Its thixotropic consistency helps the liquid remain in the applied area instead of migrating across the substrate, supporting cleaner dispensing and more consistent bond-line control. A typical viscosity range of 3,000 to 5,000 mPa·s provides enough flow for surface wetting while reducing unwanted dripping on vertical or irregular components.
The adhesive cures when exposed to a suitable UV or visible-light source. Under Henkel’s stated test conditions, fixture time on polycarbonate-to-polycarbonate joints is less than five seconds using either 365 nm or 405 nm LED flood equipment at the specified irradiance. Actual curing time depends on lamp intensity, wavelength, exposure distance, bond-line gap, adhesive depth, and the light transmission of the substrate.
LOCTITE AA 3320 UV-Curing Acrylic Adhesive combines rapid production processing with a flexible cured structure. The cured adhesive has a typical elongation at break of 153%, helping the bond accommodate movement, impact, and dimensional changes more effectively than a highly rigid adhesive.
Typical cured properties include a Shore D hardness of 49, tensile strength of approximately 21.9 N/mm², and a tensile modulus of about 273 N/mm². Under the manufacturer’s stated curing conditions, polycarbonate lap-shear strength is approximately 9.3 N/mm², with substrate failure reported during testing.
LOCTITE AA 3320 UV-Curing Acrylic Adhesive is suitable for bonding clear or translucent plastic assemblies where light can reach the adhesive. Typical uses may include PVC-to-polycarbonate housings, transparent display parts, appliance windows, lighting components, electronic covers, plastic enclosures, glass-to-metal assemblies, and selected precision components.
The flexible joint can help protect bonded parts from vibration and shock. Its thixotropic flow control is beneficial for edge bonding, vertical dispensing, curved surfaces, and assemblies where the adhesive must remain accurately positioned before exposure to the curing light.
Clean the bonding surfaces and remove grease, oil, dust, moisture, release agents, and other contaminants. Because the uncured material is light sensitive, minimize exposure to daylight, UV radiation, and strong artificial lighting during storage and dispensing. Henkel recommends using applicators fitted with black feed lines.
Apply a controlled amount of adhesive, assemble the components, and expose the joint to a validated curing source. A minimum irradiance of 5 mW/cm² at the bond line is recommended, with exposure typically four to five times the fixture time at the same intensity. Exposed surfaces may require higher-intensity UV radiation for a dry surface cure.
Store the unopened container in a dry location, ideally between 8°C and 21°C. Avoid storage below 8°C or above 28°C, as unsuitable temperatures may affect product properties. Production trials should confirm adhesion, curing depth, stress-cracking risk, optical appearance, and long-term performance on the actual substrates.
