This single-component adhesive requires no resin and hardener mixing, simplifying preparation and reducing errors. Its clear appearance supports clean assemblies with visible bond lines. The medium viscosity of approximately 6,000 mPa·s provides controlled flow across irregular surfaces while filling bond gaps and detailed areas.
LOCTITE AA 3494 Light Cure Adhesive develops an impact-resistant cured bond and performs well in environments exposed to moisture. Its resistance to prolonged humidity or water immersion makes it valuable for bonded glass products, lighting components, decorative items, and assemblies that may encounter wet conditions.
The adhesive is ideal for bonding glass to glass and glass to compatible metals. Recommended uses include decorative glass, molded glass tableware, automotive lamp components, lighting assemblies, display elements, glass ornaments, ceramic parts, and potting applications. It can also be considered for new-energy vehicle lighting and other precision assemblies requiring a transparent, moisture-resistant bond.
Because light must reach the adhesive, designers should ensure that at least one substrate transmits the required curing wavelength or that the bond geometry allows direct exposure. Each glass type, metal finish, coating, and ceramic grade should be tested under production conditions before commercial use.
Henkel lists a typical fixture time of 8 seconds, a cure depth greater than 13 mm, Shore D hardness of 65, and specific gravity of 1.02 at 25°C. Actual curing speed depends on lamp intensity, wavelength, distance, bond-line thickness, substrate transmission, and exposure time. These values support fast processing when the curing system is properly selected and validated.
Clean the bonding surfaces and remove grease, dust, moisture, release agents, and loose contamination. Dispense the required amount, assemble the parts, and expose the adhesive to validated UV or visible light. Henkel recommends at least 40 mW/cm² at the bond line, with exposure adjusted to the application. Exposed surfaces may require higher UV intensity for a dry, tack-free finish.
Minimize exposure to daylight and artificial light during storage and handling because the product is light sensitive. Temperature-sensitive plastics should be cooled where necessary, and compatibility testing should be completed to reduce stress-cracking risk. Store unopened containers in a dry location, preferably between 8°C and 21°C, and follow the current technical and safety data sheets.
This product combines rapid curing, transparent appearance, controlled viscosity, impact resistance, and moisture durability in one convenient adhesive. It helps manufacturers shorten cycle times, reduce mixing waste, improve bond-line consistency, and create durable glass assemblies with a clean visual finish.
