LOCTITE EA 9466 Epoxy Adhesive is a toughened, two-component industrial epoxy developed for structural applications requiring high peel resistance, high shear strength, chemical resistance, and extended positioning time. After mixing, it cures at room temperature to form a durable, off-white bond line. The cured material also acts as an effective electrical insulator, making it suitable for a broad range of industrial and equipment-assembly applications.
The medium-viscosity system bonds many compatible metals, plastics, glass, wood, and fiber-reinforced materials. Its long working time allows operators to coat larger surfaces, position complicated components, and make alignment adjustments before curing advances. This makes it especially useful for assemblies where five-minute or fast-setting epoxies would provide insufficient processing time.

The mixed adhesive has a typical working life of approximately 60 minutes, while fixture strength on grit-blasted steel develops in about 180 minutes at room temperature under Henkel’s specified test method. Elevated temperatures can be used to accelerate curing when the bonded components tolerate the selected temperature.
After seven days of curing at 22°C, the adhesive has a typical Shore D hardness of 60, tensile strength of approximately 32 N/mm², tensile modulus of around 1,718 N/mm², and glass-transition temperature of approximately 62°C. Its typical dielectric-breakdown strength is 30 kV/mm, supporting applications where electrical insulation is an important secondary requirement.
Published lap-shear results include approximately 37 N/mm² on grit-blasted steel, 26 N/mm² on abraded aluminum, 23 N/mm² on stainless steel, and 8.5 N/mm² on hot-dip galvanized steel. Henkel publishes resistance testing involving motor oil, gasoline, water-glycol mixtures, salt fog, high humidity, water, acetone, and isopropanol. Final performance still depends on joint geometry, substrate grade, surface preparation, bond-line thickness, cure conditions, mechanical loading, and service exposure.
How to Apply LOCTITE EA 9466 Epoxy Adhesive
Before applying LOCTITE EA 9466 Epoxy Adhesive, remove grease, oil, paint, oxide films, dust, mold-release agents, and other contaminants from both surfaces. For dual cartridges, install the cartridge in a compatible applicator, dispense a small quantity to confirm that both components flow evenly, and attach the appropriate static mixing nozzle. For hand or bulk mixing, blend the specified ratio thoroughly and continue mixing for approximately 15 seconds after a uniform color is obtained.
Apply the mixed adhesive promptly. Coating both surfaces evenly can help maximize structural strength. Assemble the components immediately and fixture them against movement during curing. Henkel recommends allowing the bond to cure for 24 hours before exposure to service loads. Uncured excess may be removed with a compatible organic solvent such as acetone.
Storage of LOCTITE EA 9466 Epoxy Adhesive
Store unopened LOCTITE EA 9466 Epoxy Adhesive in a dry location between approximately 8°C and 21°C. Storage below 8°C or above 28°C may adversely affect product properties. Do not return dispensed material to the original container, and review the current safety data sheets for both components before handling.
