LOCTITE EA E-05CL Epoxy Adhesive combines fast processing with a flexible, impact-resistant bond. Unlike rigid general-purpose epoxies, the toughened cured material offers excellent peel resistance and approximately 80% tensile elongation under published laboratory conditions. This flexibility helps the adhesive absorb shock, vibration, and movement between dissimilar substrates, reducing concentrated stress around delicate or thin components.
The ultra-clear finish is valuable for visible joints, transparent parts, decorative assemblies, and products where the adhesive line should remain unobtrusive. Its two-part system mixes at a convenient 1:1 ratio by volume, supporting use with a 50 ml dual cartridge, compatible dispensing gun, and static mixing nozzle. The cartridge format improves ratio control, minimizes manual mixing errors, and supports accurate placement.
This industrial epoxy bonds many plastics, metals, glass, wood, ceramic, rubber, masonry, and composite materials after proper surface preparation and application testing. Typical uses include flex circuits, cable boots, staking fillet bonds, transparent covers, display components, electrical housings, sensor assemblies, decorative parts, and mixed-material joints that require both clarity and flexibility.
The medium-viscosity liquid can wet prepared surfaces while remaining controllable during dispensing. It is especially useful for close, accurately fitted joints. Henkel reports strong laboratory adhesion on glass, PVC, steel, aluminum, stainless steel, polycarbonate, ABS, epoxy laminates, and wood, although actual results vary with surface condition, bond geometry, and curing conditions.
The resin is a clear-to-yellow epoxy liquid with a typical viscosity of approximately 1,900 mPa·s at 25°C, while the mercaptan hardener is a light-colored liquid with a typical viscosity near 2,800 mPa·s. After mixing, the adhesive appears ultra clear and has a typical specific gravity of about 1.13. Published working life is approximately three minutes at 25°C, so components and fixtures should be prepared before dispensing.
Typical cured properties include Shore D hardness around 55, dielectric strength near 400 volts per mil, tensile elongation of approximately 80%, and a glass-transition temperature near 10°C. These values are representative technical data rather than guaranteed purchase specifications. Users should validate the complete assembly under expected temperature, chemical, electrical, and mechanical conditions.
Remove paint, oxide, oil, dust, mold-release agents, and other contamination from both surfaces. Install the dual cartridge in a suitable dispensing gun, dispense a small amount until both components flow evenly, and then attach the recommended static mixer. Discard the initial mixed material and apply an even layer to both prepared surfaces.
Join the parts within the available working time and prevent movement during curing. Contact pressure is required, and Henkel identifies a bond-line thickness of approximately 3 to 9 mils for maximum shear performance. Allow about 24 hours at 25°C for high strength. Controlled heat up to 93°C can accelerate curing after process validation.
LOCTITE EA E-05CL Epoxy Adhesive gives industrial buyers an effective combination of ultra-clear appearance, rapid room-temperature curing, multi-substrate bonding, electrical insulation, chemical resistance, and toughened flexibility. It is a practical choice for manufacturers seeking a professional epoxy for visible, shock-sensitive, or mixed-material assemblies.
