The product uses an epoxy resin and amine hardener mixed at a 2:1 ratio by volume or 100:48 by weight. The resin has a published viscosity of approximately 80,000 to 280,000 mPa·s, while the hardener is approximately 30,000 to 90,000 mPa·s at 25°C under the specified Brookfield conditions. After mixing, the material has a typical specific gravity of about 1.43 and a working life of approximately 20 minutes, providing useful time for dispensing, positioning, and fixture preparation.
LOCTITE EA E-20NS Non-Sag Epoxy Adhesive cures at ambient temperature and can reach high strength after approximately 24 hours at 25°C. Moderate heating up to 93°C can accelerate the curing process. Henkel recommends maintaining contact pressure and controlling the bond line between approximately 0.1 and 0.2 mm for maximum shear strength. Larger mixed quantities and warmer conditions shorten the available working time, so production teams should qualify the complete process using representative assemblies.
Typical applications include bonding aluminum brackets, stainless-steel parts, machinery housings, glass panels, ceramic components, rigid plastic assemblies, electrical enclosures, wooden fixtures, composite structures, and equipment parts. The non-sag paste is particularly useful on vertical joints, overhead repairs, edge bonding, gap filling, and applications where a liquid epoxy could flow away before curing.
Published five-day lap-shear results include approximately 19.2 MPa on grit-blasted steel, 17.3 MPa on prepared aluminum, 13.2 MPa on polycarbonate, and 9.9 MPa on fir wood. Block-shear data include approximately 11.2 MPa on ABS, 8.9 MPa on PVC, 22.9 MPa on epoxy, and 9.3 MPa on glass. These figures are laboratory references; actual performance depends on substrate grade, preparation, joint geometry, cure conditions, and service exposure.
Remove paint, oxide, oil, dust, mold-release agents, moisture, and loose contamination from both bonding surfaces. Insert the dual cartridge into a compatible applicator, dispense a small amount to confirm equal flow, attach the correct static mixer, and discard the initial output. For manual mixing, blend both components thoroughly and continue mixing for approximately 15 seconds after a uniform color is achieved.
Apply the adhesive evenly to both prepared surfaces, assemble the parts within 20 minutes, and prevent movement during curing. Contact pressure is required, but excessive clamping should not squeeze all adhesive from the joint. Uncured residue may be removed with a compatible ketone-type solvent after confirming substrate compatibility. Store unopened product in a dry location, ideally between 8°C and 21°C.
