LOCTITE SF 713 Cyanoacrylate Activator is especially effective as a post-applied accelerator when rapid fixturing is required. By accelerating exposed instant adhesive, it helps stabilize small parts and reduces the risk of components moving out of position. This can improve productivity and support consistent assembly where standard moisture curing may be slower.
The activator contains an amine active ingredient in an isopropanol solvent. It is supplied ready for use and does not require mixing, heating, or special curing equipment. The clear to slightly amber appearance supports neat application, while the low-viscosity formula reaches exposed adhesive around wires, coils, guides, and small components.
Typical applications include securing wires or coils to printed circuit boards, tamper-proofing adjustable components, mounting stand-offs, attaching edge guides, and fixing board stiffeners. The product is also suitable for selected disposable medical-device assembly applications and has been tested under Henkel protocols based on ISO 10993 biocompatibility standards to assist product selection.
LOCTITE SF 713 Cyanoacrylate Activator can be used wherever compatible LOCTITE cyanoacrylate adhesives require faster fixture development. It is valuable in electronics production, electrical assembly, appliance manufacturing, instrumentation, maintenance, and precision bonding. Because solvents may affect certain plastics, paints, or coatings, compatibility testing should be completed on actual production materials before approval.
Henkel lists a typical specific gravity of 0.8 at 25°C and a viscosity of approximately 1 mPa·s at 20°C. Drying time is no more than 30 seconds at 20°C, while on-part life is no more than one minute. Active ingredient concentration is approximately 1.7% to 2.3%. On steel used with LOCTITE 495, published solidification time is no more than 30 seconds under stated test conditions.
Actual cure acceleration depends on the selected adhesive, substrate, adhesive quantity, joint geometry, temperature, and application method. Published values are typical data rather than guaranteed specifications. Production teams should confirm fixture time, final strength, appearance, and substrate compatibility through application trials.
For post-activation, apply the selected LOCTITE cyanoacrylate adhesive, assemble or position the parts, and then spray or drop the activator over all exposed adhesive. Henkel typically recommends one drop of activator for each drop of exposed adhesive. Hold the components until adequate handling strength develops.
For surface activation, clean and degrease contaminated surfaces first. Apply one uniform coating by spray, brush, or dipping, then allow the solvent to evaporate completely to avoid entrapment inside the joint. Apply the cyanoacrylate adhesive immediately after drying and no later than 45 seconds afterward. Reapply the activator when the delay exceeds 45 seconds.
LOCTITE SF 713 Cyanoacrylate Activator offers fast processing, flexible pre- or post-application, very low viscosity, and compatibility with professional instant-adhesive workflows. It is an effective choice for buyers seeking shorter fixture times and better control in PCB, electronics, medical-device, and precision assembly operations.
Never mix the liquid activator directly with liquid adhesive. Use only in a well-ventilated area and handle it as a highly flammable material. Store unopened containers in a dry, dark location at an optimal temperature of 8°C to 21°C.
