LOCTITE 569 Hydraulic Thread Sealant is valuable in hydraulic and fluid-handling systems where cleanliness is critical. Because the formulation contains no fillers or particulate materials, it will not contaminate system fluids, foul precision valves, or block fine filters and screens. This makes it suitable for hydraulic fittings, pneumatic connections, instrumentation lines, and control systems.
The low-strength cured seal allows many threaded fittings to be removed with standard hand tools during maintenance. Its ready-to-use, one-part format eliminates mixing and reduces preparation time, while the low viscosity supports controlled application around fine threads. Properly tightened fittings can provide an immediate seal against moderate pressure.
Typical applications include fine-threaded hydraulic fittings, pneumatic connectors, instrumentation components, fluid-control assemblies, industrial machinery, process equipment, pumps, and maintenance systems. The product is designed for metal pipes and fittings where an anaerobic seal is preferred over thread tape or particle-filled sealing paste.
The sealant performs best when confined between close-fitting metal surfaces. It can be used on active metals and, with appropriate activation, on slower-curing passive metals. It is not normally recommended for thermoplastics because stress cracking may occur. Compatibility must also be confirmed before use with unusual metals, coatings, or cleaning residues.
The uncured material is a brown methacrylate ester liquid with a typical specific gravity of approximately 1.05 at 25°C. Henkel lists a viscosity range of 300 to 500 mPa·s, supporting effective wetting of fine threads and controlled flow into small clearances. The product cures anaerobically and may use LOCTITE SF 7471 or LOCTITE SF 7649 Activator when cure speed is too slow.
After 24 hours at 22°C, published performance on degreased 3/8 x 24 steel nuts and bolts includes breakaway torque of at least 2.8 N·m and prevailing torque of at least 1.1 N·m. These figures demonstrate low-strength retention and are typical technical values rather than guaranteed purchase specifications.
Clean the internal and external threads with a compatible LOCTITE cleaning solvent and allow them to dry. If the substrate is an inactive metal or faster curing is required, apply the recommended activator and allow it to evaporate. Apply a continuous 360-degree bead to the leading male threads while leaving the first thread free.
Work the sealant into the thread profile to fill voids completely. For larger threads or clearances, increase the quantity and apply material to the female threads as needed. Assemble and wrench-tighten the fitting according to the equipment manufacturer’s recommendations. Allow at least 24 hours of curing when maximum pressure and solvent resistance are required.
LOCTITE 569 Hydraulic Thread Sealant combines hydraulic-system compatibility, low-viscosity penetration, low disassembly strength, vibration resistance, and simple one-component processing. It is a practical choice for manufacturers and maintenance teams seeking reliable sealing of fine metal threads without particles that may clog precision fluid systems.
