This ready-to-use RTV adhesive cures at room temperature after exposure to moisture in the air, eliminating the need for component mixing or dedicated curing ovens. The product develops a tack-free surface in approximately 6.5 minutes at 50% relative humidity under specified test conditions. This rapid surface cure helps manufacturers maintain cleaner assemblies and move bonded components through subsequent production stages more efficiently.
The grey silicone has a typical specific gravity of 1.32 at 25°C. After curing, it forms a flexible elastomer with a typical Shore A hardness of 44, elongation of approximately 363%, and tensile strength of about 535 psi. These mechanical properties allow the adhesive to secure components while absorbing vibration, thermal movement, and mechanical stress that could otherwise damage solder joints, connectors, or delicate electronic parts.
DOWSIL SE 9168 RTV Silicone Adhesive is primarily designed for fixing parts on circuit boards and inside electronic modules. Typical applications include securing capacitors, connectors, coils, transformers, sensors, wires, power-supply components, and other parts that may be exposed to vibration or movement during transportation and operation.
The non-flowing formulation is particularly useful for vertical surfaces, component edges, localized reinforcement, and controlled bead application. It can support manufacturing of power modules, industrial controls, communication equipment, automotive electronics, appliances, lighting systems, and other electronic assemblies requiring flexible component support.
Ensure all bonding surfaces are clean, dry, and free from oil, grease, dust, moisture, flux residue, and release agents. Dispense the required amount directly around or beneath the component, then position the part before surface curing begins. Because atmospheric moisture initiates curing, thick sections and enclosed areas may require more time than thin, openly exposed beads.
Manufacturers should validate bead dimensions, component spacing, adhesion, cure conditions, vibration resistance, and electrical compatibility using representative production parts. Actual performance may vary according to substrate type, surface preparation, temperature, humidity, adhesive thickness, and assembly geometry.
