DP810 uses a 1:1 mix ratio by volume and weight, allowing accurate metering through compatible 3M EPX dispensing equipment and static mixing nozzles. At approximately 23°C, the mixed adhesive provides a ten-minute work life for positioning and adjustment. It reaches handling strength in about twenty minutes and develops most of its final strength within eight to twenty-four hours. This curing profile supports efficient production without requiring a separate heat-curing stage.

The base component is green and the accelerator is white, producing a tan cured adhesive; a black DP810 version is also available. Both components have a typical viscosity of approximately 18,000 to 22,000 cP at 23°C. The toughened acrylic chemistry helps the cured bond resist impact, peel stress, and demanding industrial loading. Excess material exposed to air around the bond line may remain tacky longer than adhesive confined inside the joint.

Applying 3M DP810 Low Odor Acrylic Adhesive

For consistent results, ensure all surfaces are clean, dry, and free from paint, oxide films, dust, mold-release agents, and loose contamination. Steel and aluminum can be solvent-cleaned, lightly abraded with 180-grit or finer abrasive, and cleaned again. Plastics and rubber can be wiped with isopropyl alcohol, lightly abraded where appropriate, and cleaned again after abrasion. Always confirm solvent compatibility before treating sensitive plastics or coatings.

Place the Duo-Pak cartridge in the correct 3M EPX applicator, remove the cap, and dispense a small amount to confirm equal flow from both chambers. Attach the specified static mixer, dispense another small quantity, and apply adhesive to the prepared joint. Assemble parts within the available work life and hold them securely until handling strength develops.

Full cure can be accelerated by heating the bond line to approximately 49°C for thirty minutes or 66°C for ten minutes. Cure time depends on adhesive temperature, mixed volume, substrate temperature, joint dimensions, and production conditions. Process settings should therefore be validated using the actual components and dispensing equipment.

Storage, Safety, and Official 3M Resources

Store unopened cartridges in their original packaging between 0°C and 4°C, do not freeze, and allow the adhesive to reach room temperature before dispensing. For best performance, 3M recommends using cartridges within fifteen months from the manufacturing date.
