LOCTITE 190757 Retaining Compound provides medium-to-high strength for industrial assemblies requiring secure retention and sealing. By filling microscopic clearances between mating surfaces, the cured adhesive helps distribute loads, reduce fretting movement, and improve vibration resistance. The ready-to-use format requires no weighing or mixing, helping production teams simplify preparation and reduce ratio errors.
The thixotropic behavior reduces unwanted migration after application, which is valuable on vertical parts, threaded areas, and components awaiting assembly. The product can be dispensed manually or through compatible production equipment. Its red appearance provides visual confirmation during application.
This adhesive is designed for cylindrical metal assemblies, including expansion plugs and fitted parts that must remain secure during operation. Typical applications include sleeves, collars, bushings, plugs, and shaft-mounted components. It also supports locking and sealing metal nuts, bolts, studs, and threaded fittings exposed to shock or vibration.
LOCTITE 190757 Retaining Compound is suitable for industrial machinery, motors, pumps, gear systems, metal fabrication, transportation equipment, and general maintenance. It is intended for close-fitting metals. Plastic assemblies, especially stress-sensitive thermoplastics, require compatibility testing because cracking may occur. Do not select it for pure oxygen, oxygen-rich systems, chlorine, or strong oxidizing materials.
The uncured material has a typical specific gravity of 1.1 at 25°C. Published Brookfield viscosity ranges from 3,000 to 6,000 mPa·s at 2.5 rpm and from 1,000 to 2,000 mPa·s at 20 rpm, demonstrating shear-thinning behavior. After curing for 72 hours at 22°C, typical breakaway torque is 17 N·m on M10 steel fasteners, 9 N·m on zinc-dichromate fasteners, and 21 N·m on black-oxide steel fasteners.
Published compressive shear strength on steel pins and collars is approximately 15 N/mm². Henkel testing also reports retained performance after exposure to motor oil and distilled water. These are typical reference values. Final results depend on substrate, surface preparation, joint clearance, cure temperature, adhesive quantity, and operating conditions.
Clean internal and external metal surfaces with a compatible LOCTITE cleaning solvent and allow them to dry. If the metal is inactive or curing is too slow, apply LOCTITE SF 7471 or SF 7649 Activator and allow it to evaporate. Shake the bottle before use, and avoid touching the dispensing tip against metal.
For through-hole fasteners, apply several drops to the bolt at the nut-engagement area. For blind holes, dispense material into the lower third of the internal threads. For sealing, apply a continuous 360-degree bead to the leading male threads while leaving the first thread free. Assemble and tighten the parts, then allow curing before service.
LOCTITE 190757 Retaining Compound combines controlled viscosity, medium-to-high strength, vibration resistance, thread sealing, and one-component convenience. It is a practical commercial choice for manufacturers and maintenance professionals seeking one product for cylindrical metal retention, expansion plug bonding, and threaded fastener locking.
Assemblies can often be dismantled with standard hand tools. When removal is difficult, localized heating to approximately 250°C may be used before disassembly while hot. Store unopened containers in a dry location, ideally from 8°C to 21°C. Review the official Henkel LOCTITE 190757 Technical Data Sheet before qualification or production use.
