Provides solid curing performance

Designed for machined aluminum and steel flanges, LOCTITE 510 High Temperature Flange Sealant creates a durable seal without requiring a pre-cut gasket. The product adapts to flange geometry and fills gaps up to 0.25 mm on unprimed surfaces, helping reduce leakage paths around bolt holes, machined faces, and small surface imperfections. Its anaerobic cure technology allows exposed material to remain uncured while the confined product polymerizes between the assembled metal surfaces.
The cured gasket supports reliable sealing in applications exposed to oils, fuels, hydraulic fluids, process chemicals, and elevated operating temperatures, subject to application-specific testing. It also helps improve torque transmission across the assembled flange because the cured material eliminates the compressible layer associated with many traditional solid gaskets. The official operating range is approximately -55°C to 200°C, while Henkel lists temperature resistance up to 204°C for suitable applications.
Typical uses include transmission housings, motor casings, gearboxes, pumps, compressors, industrial machinery, fluid-processing equipment, power-generation systems, and other rigid flange assemblies. The product is especially useful for maintenance and repair operations where replacing multiple gasket shapes creates storage, purchasing, and downtime challenges.
Its medium-strength performance allows secure sealing while supporting planned disassembly with standard hand tools. LOCTITE 510 High Temperature Flange Sealant can be applied manually, through dispensing equipment, by screen printing, or by roller on larger flange surfaces. These options make it suitable for both field repairs and repeatable production processes.
Remove old gasket material, burrs, oil, grease, dust, and contamination before application. Henkel recommends cleaning flange surfaces with a suitable LOCTITE cleaner such as SF 7070. Where cure speed is slow because of passive metals or temperatures below 5°C, LOCTITE SF 7649 activator may be used according to current technical instructions.
Apply a continuous bead to one flange, keeping the material close to the inner rim and surrounding all bolt holes. Assemble the parts promptly and tighten the fasteners to the specified torque. Excess sealant outside the joint can be wiped away because exposed material will not cure in air. Validate bead size, flange gap, bolt pattern, surface finish, cure time, and fluid compatibility before full production.
