Frekote 770-NC is particularly suitable for processes that are difficult to demold, such as winding and molding of unsaturated polyester fiberglass reinforced plastic products without gel coat.
LOCTITE 770NS Polyolefin Primer expands the bonding range of industrial instant adhesives without requiring complex surface-processing equipment in many applications. The one-component liquid is ready to use, needs no mixing, and can be applied by spraying, brushing, or dipping. Its very low viscosity supports uniform coverage on small molded parts, narrow edges, curved components, and detailed plastic surfaces.
The primer fluoresces under ultraviolet light, allowing operators and quality-control teams to confirm coverage with a 365 nm inspection lamp. This feature supports repeatable production because insufficient or uneven treatment can be identified before adhesive dispensing. When used correctly, the primer helps compatible cyanoacrylate adhesives develop dependable performance on treated low-energy surfaces.
Typical applications include bonding polyethylene housings, polypropylene clips, PTFE components, thermoplastic rubber seals, appliance parts, automotive trim, medical-device parts, and general industrial plastic assemblies. It is especially useful where a low-surface-energy substrate must be joined to metal, rubber, plastic, or another treated polyolefin using a compatible LOCTITE instant adhesive.
When one side of an assembly is polyolefin and the opposite side is an easier-to-bond material, apply the primer only to the polyolefin surface. This reduces unnecessary chemical exposure and helps maintain a controlled process. The product is not recommended for assemblies where high peel strength is the primary requirement, so joint design and loading conditions should be evaluated before qualification.
The current LOCTITE SF 770 technical data identifies the chemistry as an aliphatic amine in an isopropyl acetate solvent. Typical properties include a specific gravity of approximately 0.87 at 23°C and viscosity of about 0.62 mPa·s at 25°C. Published drying times are approximately eight seconds on polyethylene and nine seconds on polypropylene or steel. The treated surface remains active for up to eight hours under stated conditions.
These values are typical reference data rather than guaranteed purchase specifications. Results depend on substrate formulation, molding additives, contamination, primer quantity, adhesive selection, joint geometry, temperature, and production conditions. Users should test the complete material combination before approving commercial production.
Clean the bonding area and remove oil, dust, release agents, moisture, and loose contamination. Apply a thin, even coating by spraying, brushing, or dipping. Avoid excessive primer because pooling can reduce process control and may affect certain plastics, coatings, paints, or printed surfaces. Allow the solvent to evaporate completely before adhesive application.
For best results, dispense the selected LOCTITE cyanoacrylate adhesive and assemble the parts immediately after the primer dries. Hold the parts until fixture strength develops. Use ventilation, keep the product away from heat and ignition sources, and review the current Safety Data Sheet because the solvent-based primer is highly flammable.
LOCTITE 770NS Polyolefin Primer gives manufacturers a practical way to bond difficult plastics with fast-curing instant adhesives. Its rapid drying, ultraviolet fluorescence, simple one-part application, and compatibility with PE, PP, PTFE, and thermoplastic rubber support efficient assembly. Store unopened containers in a dry location, ideally between 8°C and 21°C, and confirm the correct product IDH before downloading the applicable Safety Data Sheet.
