Universal
Rapid initial curing between closely fitting parts
Used for post-application
For all substrates

Industrial instant adhesives normally cure quickly between close-fitting surfaces, but exposed beads, larger gaps, dry substrates, or low-humidity conditions may slow fixture development. LOCTITE SF 7455 Instant Adhesive Activator provides a practical way to accelerate cyanoacrylate polymerization and improve handling speed. It can be applied to a substrate before bonding or placed over exposed instant adhesive after components have been assembled.
The activator has a typical viscosity of approximately 0.4 mPa·s at 25°C, allowing it to spread easily by spray, brush, dipping, or drop application. Its typical drying time is about 60 seconds at 23°C, with an on-part life of approximately five minutes. In Henkel testing, LOCTITE 416 achieved a fixture time of about 10 seconds on grit-blasted steel with two-side activation. Actual results depend on the adhesive grade, substrate, surface condition, bond gap, temperature, humidity, and application amount.
Typical uses include securing wires and coils to printed circuit boards, fixing board stiffeners, mounting stand-offs, installing edge guides, and tamper-proofing adjustable components. The product is also suitable for general assembly, electronics manufacturing, appliance production, automotive component work, maintenance, model making, and small-part repair where faster handling strength is required.
Post-application is particularly useful when excess or exposed cyanoacrylate must fixture quickly. Pre-application can support bonding on surfaces or geometries where standard cure speed is insufficient. Because the solvent may affect certain plastics, painted surfaces, or coatings, users should test representative materials before production approval.
For post-activation, dispense the selected LOCTITE cyanoacrylate adhesive and assemble or position the parts as required. Apply the activator over all exposed adhesive by spray or drop. Henkel typically recommends approximately one drop of activator for each drop of exposed adhesive.
For surface activation, clean and degrease contaminated substrates before applying one uniform coating by spray, brush, or dipping. Allow the solvent to evaporate completely before bonding to avoid solvent entrapment. Apply the cyanoacrylate immediately after drying. The activator may be reapplied when a delay occurs between surface preparation and adhesive dispensing.
Never mix the liquid activator directly with liquid cyanoacrylate adhesive. Use the product only in a well-ventilated area and keep it away from ignition sources because the heptane-based formulation is highly flammable. Store unopened containers in a dry location, ideally between 8°C and 21°C.
