The TAT series is intended for materials that are difficult to stamp with conventional water-based inks. Fine pigment particles produce clear impressions while the solvent system promotes rapid drying and strong surface contact. Shachihata describes the ink as heat resistant, highly oil resistant, and suitable for demanding conditions. It is therefore useful in factories, warehouses, laboratories, repair facilities, quality-control departments, and manufacturing lines requiring readable marks on products or packaging.
Official Shachihata China information lists an approximate drying time of 30 seconds at 20°C and 65% relative humidity. Actual drying varies with substrate, surface treatment, ink volume, temperature, humidity, airflow, and stamp design. Smooth glass, coated plastic, plated metal, rubber, painted surfaces, and porous wood may behave differently, so users should test adhesion, drying, legibility, and resistance on representative parts.
Shachihata TAT STSG-1 Quick Dry Multipurpose Ink can be used for part numbers, production dates, batch codes, operator checks, inspection approval, size identification, and warehouse classification. Typical substrates include steel, aluminum, molded plastics, glass containers, rubber parts, leather goods, coated cartons, wood products, ceramics, painted components, and selected fabrics. It is especially useful when standard stamp-pad ink cannot create a sharp or durable impression.
The 55 ml bottle is designed for replenishing compatible TAT multipurpose or uninked application pads. Apply only enough ink to moisten the pad evenly, because excessive filling may cause blurred marks, slower drying, leakage, or contamination. Shachihata advises that the quick-dry multipurpose ink should be used with an application-type TAT stamp pad and should not be poured into incompatible self-inking stamp units.
Clean the marking surface and remove oil, dust, water, release agents, and loose contamination. Replenish the compatible pad evenly and allow the ink to distribute before stamping. Press the stamp vertically with consistent pressure and avoid sliding the rubber face. Leave the impression undisturbed until completely dry, particularly on smooth plastic, glass, and metal.
Close the bottle immediately after use because solvent evaporation can thicken the ink. Use only the dedicated TAT solvent recommended for the selected system when pad maintenance is required. White pigment can settle during storage and should be mixed thoroughly with the cap secured before use. The white version is not recommended for absorbent paper or fabric.
STSG-1 is the earlier 55 ml designation. Shachihata introduced the successor STSGA-1 series with color suffixes: K for black, R for red, B for blue, G for green, V for purple, and W for white. Buyers should confirm the bottle label, color code, and regional stock designation before ordering.
The ink is solvent-based and requires suitable ventilation, ignition control, and personal protection. Review the current safety data sheet before use. Visit the official Shachihata TAT quick-dry ink page and the official Shachihata STSGA-1 product listing for current product information.
