The gray formulation uses a convenient 1:1 mixing ratio by volume and combines high shear and peel strength with moderate flexibility. This balance allows the cured bond to tolerate impact, vibration, thermal movement, and environmental ageing more effectively than a very rigid adhesive.
The extended working time is one of its most useful processing advantages. At 23°C, the gray grade provides approximately 90 minutes of work life and open time, allowing operators to cover larger bonding areas, position components, and make alignment adjustments. Handling strength normally develops in about 8 to 12 hours, while full room-temperature curing requires approximately seven days.

This medium-viscosity profile supports controlled bead application and even surface coverage without the excessive running associated with very low-viscosity adhesives.
After curing, the gray adhesive has a typical Shore D hardness of 60 and remains sufficiently flexible for many mixed-material joints. Current technical data reports tensile strength of approximately 24.1 MPa, elongation near 30%, and T-peel adhesion around 36 N/cm on etched aluminum at 23°C under the specified test conditions. The product is also recognized as meeting UL 94 HB. These values are representative laboratory results rather than guaranteed specifications.
The adhesive also provides useful electrical properties, including a typical dielectric constant of 6.5 at 1 kHz and volume resistivity of approximately 5 × 10¹² Ω-cm. Its thermal conductivity is listed at around 0.38 W/m·K. How to Apply 3M DP190 Epoxy Adhesive
Before applying 3M DP190 Epoxy Adhesive, remove oil, grease, paint, oxide, dust, release agents, and loose contamination. For plastic and rubber surfaces, 3M recommends cleaning with isopropyl alcohol, lightly abrading with a fine abrasive, and cleaning again. Metals may require solvent cleaning and abrasion, while glass may require an appropriate primer for stronger and more durable adhesion.
Insert the Duo-Pak cartridge into a compatible 3M EPX applicator, dispense a small amount to confirm that both components flow evenly, and attach the correct static mixing nozzle. Apply the mixed adhesive evenly and close the joint within the available working time. Maintain contact pressure and prevent component movement during curing.
A bond line of approximately 0.08 to 0.13 mm is recommended for maximum shear strength. The assembly should cure at 16°C or above. Controlled heating up to approximately 93°C can accelerate curing when the bonded components tolerate the selected temperature.
Storage and Safety of 3M DP190 Epoxy Adhesive
Store 3M DP190 Epoxy Adhesive in its unopened original packaging at approximately 16°C to 27°C and away from direct sunlight. The current gray-grade technical data lists a shelf life of 24 months from the manufacturing date when stored correctly. Operators should review the current safety data sheets for both components and use suitable ventilation, gloves, eye protection, and workplace controls.
