Designed for commercial-vehicle glazing, Sikaflex 265 Direct Glazing Adhesive combines structural bonding and joint sealing in one practical product. Its high green strength helps hold correctly positioned glass during assembly, while its gap-filling consistency supports controlled bead formation across large window frames. Once cured, the elastomeric adhesive delivers a strong yet flexible connection that can tolerate dynamic loads, road vibration, and dimensional movement between glass and vehicle body materials.
The product offers excellent weathering and ageing resistance, making it particularly valuable for exposed joints around windshields, side windows, rear windows, and fixed glazing panels. It is compatible with Sika’s black-primerless bonding process when used within the recommended system, helping qualified manufacturers streamline selected glazing procedures. Sikaflex 265 can also be accelerated with the appropriate Sika Booster system when faster strength development is required.
Sikaflex 265 Direct Glazing Adhesive is supplied as a moisture-curing black polyurethane with good non-sag properties and a typical skin time of approximately 45 minutes at 23°C and 50% relative humidity. The recommended processing range is 10°C to 35°C, while the optimum temperature for the substrate and adhesive is generally 15°C to 25°C.
After curing, the product provides a Shore A hardness of approximately 45, tensile strength of about 6 MPa, lap-shear strength of around 4.5 MPa, and elongation at break of approximately 450%. Its normal service-temperature range is -40°C to 90°C. These balanced properties support strong adhesion without sacrificing the elasticity needed for transportation glazing.
This adhesive is recommended for direct glazing in OEM and aftermarket operations, including commercial buses, coaches, trucks, specialty vehicles, and selected rail applications. It can be used for bonding glass windows and finishing exterior joints where reliable adhesion, flexible sealing, and weather resistance are required.
Because substrate coatings, ceramic frits, glass types, and painted surfaces can vary, compatibility testing should always be completed using the actual materials and operating conditions. Materials that may be sensitive to stress cracking require additional evaluation and advice from the manufacturer.
For dependable bonding, surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from grease, oil, dust, moisture, and other contamination. Select the surface-preparation method according to the latest Sika pre-treatment guidance for the specific substrate. Applying a triangular bead is recommended to promote a controlled and uniform bond-line thickness.
Sikaflex 265 may be dispensed with manual, pneumatic, or electric piston guns, as well as suitable pump equipment. Install the glass within the available open time and never assemble parts after a skin has formed. Tooling and finishing should also be completed within the skin time. Cure speed depends on temperature and humidity, and colder or drier conditions can slow moisture curing.
Choose Sikaflex 265 Direct Glazing Adhesive for professional vehicle-window bonding where flexibility, high green strength, exterior durability, and efficient application are essential. Common packaging includes 300 ml cartridges, 600 ml unipacks, 23-liter pails, and 195-liter drums, although regional availability may differ.
