3M VHBTape Universal Primer UV Specification: 1QT/can, 8OZ/can, 12 cans/box Provides the following features: • Reduces EHS impact • Reduces irritating odor • Dries quickly • UV indication function Target industries and applications: All places that are already using 94primer or other primers; applications that have not used primers due to EHS reasons or odors; and new applications that will require primers in the future.
3M Marine Adhesive Sealant Fast Cure 4000 UV is a one-component marine adhesive sealant designed to create a firm, flexible, and waterproof seal on boats, recreational vehicles, and other watercraft. Its polyether-based formulation cures with atmospheric moisture and remains flexible after curing, helping the joint accommodate vibration, shock, swelling, shrinking, and normal movement. The product is suitable above and below the waterline, while its strong resistance to ultraviolet exposure makes it valuable for visible exterior joints exposed to sunlight.
For boat builders, repair workshops, marinas, and maintenance professionals, 3M Marine Adhesive Sealant Fast Cure 4000 UV offers a practical balance between durable sealing and future serviceability. It creates a semi-permanent bond, making it useful for deck hardware, trim, and fittings that require dependable weather protection but may eventually need removal or inspection.
The main advantage of 3M Marine Adhesive Sealant Fast Cure 4000 UV is its combination of UV stability, flexibility, and watertight sealing performance. The cured material forms a rubber-like joint that helps resist cracking when substrates expand, contract, or vibrate. Its non-sagging paste consistency supports controlled application on vertical and horizontal surfaces, while the low-odor, low-VOC formulation improves handling convenience during marine assembly and repair.
Under typical conditions of approximately 22°C and 50% relative humidity, the sealant can become tack-free in as little as 22 minutes and may fully cure in about 24 hours at a 3.2 mm depth. Actual curing speed depends on temperature, humidity, bead dimensions, and joint design. The published service temperature range is approximately -40°C to 90°C.
3M Marine Adhesive Sealant Fast Cure 4000 UV is suitable for bedding and sealing fiberglass hulls, wood-to-fiberglass joints, porthole frames, deck fittings, moldings, rails, hatches, portlights, metal hardware, and selected through-hull or deck hardware. It is particularly effective for cosmetic seals where color stability and sunlight resistance are important.
The product can be selected for boat manufacturing, yacht maintenance, marine equipment installation, recreational vehicle sealing, and general watercraft repair. Substrate compatibility and final performance should be verified on the actual materials, coatings, primers, and service conditions. A representative trial is recommended for unfamiliar plastics, painted surfaces, treated wood, or critical components.
Ensure that each surface is clean, dry, and free from oil, wax, dust, oxidation, and other contaminants. New surfaces may be cleaned with an appropriate 3M-recommended adhesive cleaner or equivalent solvent, while weathered surfaces may benefit from light abrasion. Apply the sealant to the seam or component, position the parts, and tool the bead to achieve the required appearance and coverage.
Remove excess uncured material promptly with a dry cloth followed by a suitable cleaner used according to its safety instructions. Once cured, the sealant normally requires mechanical removal using a knife, razor blade, wire, or sanding method. Allow adequate cure before exposing the assembly to water, load, movement, or demanding service.
Store 3M Marine Adhesive Sealant Fast Cure 4000 UV in its original packaging under normal indoor conditions, away from excessive heat and moisture. Use the product in a ventilated area, wear suitable protective equipment, and follow the latest safety data sheet and technical instructions. When solvents are used for cleaning, remove ignition sources and observe the solvent manufacturer’s precautions.
For marine sealing projects requiring UV resistance, flexibility, and reliable waterproofing, 3M Marine Adhesive Sealant Fast Cure 4000 UV is a strong choice for new assembly and repair.
