This industrial thread sealant uses acrylic dimethacrylate ester technology and requires no mixing, helping maintenance teams simplify application and reduce preparation time. Its medium viscosity and thixotropic behavior support controlled dispensing around threaded areas. The product is especially suitable for stainless steel assemblies without surface activation under appropriate conditions, making it useful for applications where conventional anaerobic products may cure more slowly.
LOCTITE 5772 also features low halogen and sulfur content. Henkel developed the formulation for sensitive metals, including titanium components used in specialized industrial environments. This makes the product a practical option for users who need dependable sealing performance while carefully controlling contamination from chlorine, fluorine, and sulfur.
The product is intended for metal pipe threads, fittings, connectors, and similar close-fitting threaded assemblies. Typical use areas include industrial equipment, process systems, maintenance operations, stainless steel piping, titanium hardware, and engineered assemblies exposed to vibration. Properly tightened fittings can provide an immediate seal against moderate pressure, while full curing improves pressure and solvent resistance.
In its uncured state, the material is a yellow, UV-fluorescent liquid with a specific gravity of approximately 1.09 at 25°C. Its viscosity is listed at 3,000 to 12,000 mPa·s under the stated Henkel test method. Chlorine and fluorine content are limited to 200 ppm or less, while sulfur content is also limited to 200 ppm or less. The cured sealant provides medium strength, supporting secure assembly while allowing disassembly with standard hand tools in many installations.
Clean internal and external threads with a compatible LOCTITE cleaning solvent and allow all surfaces to dry. Apply a continuous 360-degree bead to the leading male threads while leaving the first thread free. Work the sealant into the threads to fill voids completely. For larger threads or gaps, increase the applied amount and consider coating the female threads as well. Assemble and wrench-tighten according to the equipment manufacturer’s instructions.
For maximum pressure and solvent resistance, allow at least 24 hours of curing. Inactive metals or slow-curing conditions may require LOCTITE Activator 7471 or 7649. Always consult the current Safety Data Sheet before handling. The product is not recommended for pure oxygen, oxygen-rich systems, chlorine, or other strong oxidizers. Plastic compatibility should be tested before use because some thermoplastics may experience stress cracking.
For buyers sourcing a specialized metal thread sealing solution, LOCTITE 5772 offers controlled application, medium-strength retention, reliable vibration resistance, and suitability for stainless steel and sensitive-metal assemblies. Its one-component format supports efficient production, repair, and maintenance workflows without mixing equipment.
The formula is easy to inspect during production because it fluoresces under ultraviolet light. This feature can support application verification and quality-control routines. For procurement teams, the combination of brand recognition, documented technical properties, and focused use on demanding metal assemblies makes specification and repeat purchasing more straightforward.
