Henkel identifies the product as a medium-viscosity acrylic adhesive with a specific gravity of 1.0 to 1.1 and Brookfield viscosity of approximately 3,000 to 4,000 mPa·s at 25°C. This flow profile supports accurate dispensing into narrow bond lines while providing controlled placement around magnets, housings, glass parts, and small electronic assemblies. Because it is supplied as one component, no weighing or resin-and-hardener mixing is required.
When metal surfaces are treated with LOCTITE Primer N and the adhesive is confined in an approximately 0.05 mm gap, reference fixture time is 15 to 20 seconds. Exposed material can be cured by UV light. Under Henkel’s test conditions, 100 mW/cm² measured at 365 nm produces a tack-free surface in approximately 10 to 15 seconds. Actual curing depends on lamp output, wavelength, distance, substrate transmission, adhesive depth, and joint geometry.
LOCTITE AA 3052 UV Anaerobic Adhesive is recommended for electric motors, motor housings, magnet assemblies, piezoelectric buzzers, instruments, and industrial devices. It can join compatible glass, steel, aluminum, ceramics, plastics, and mixed-material components. The dual-cure system is valuable where light reaches the outer fillet but part of the adhesive remains inside an opaque or closely fitted metal interface.
Typical uses include retaining permanent magnets in metal housings, attaching glass or ceramic parts to metal supports, securing small electrical components, and sealing joint perimeters. It may also be considered for localized potting or coating when sufficiently intense UV radiation can reach the complete exposed surface. Final performance should be qualified with the actual substrates, primer, gap, lamp, temperature, and service conditions.
Remove oil, grease, dust, moisture, oxide, release agents, and loose contamination from all bonding surfaces. Glass may be wiped with alcohol or a suitable organic solvent. Plastic can be lightly abraded, while metal may be degreased and then sanded, etched, or fine-grit blasted when higher strength is required. Apply LOCTITE Primer N to metal regions intended for anaerobic curing according to the current primer instructions.
The product is light sensitive, so dispensing systems should be protected from daylight and stray UV exposure. Henkel recommends black feed lines. For light-cured bond lines, at least 6 mW/cm² measured at the bond line is recommended, with exposure approximately four to five times the fixture time at that intensity. Exposed surfaces require higher intensity for a dry cure.
Transparent substrates must transmit the required wavelength. Tinted glass, UV-blocking plastics, thick sections, shadowed areas, and excessive gaps can prevent complete curing. Cooling may be needed for heat-sensitive thermoplastics, and plastic grades should be evaluated for stress cracking before production use.
Henkel reports typical lap-shear strength of approximately 250 kgf/cm² on steel and 150 kgf/cm² on aluminum after anaerobic curing with Primer N. A UV-cured glass-to-steel test produced approximately 200 kgf/cm² under the stated laboratory conditions. Typical cured properties include Shore D hardness of 82, tensile strength of 39.2 MPa, and elongation at break of 15%.
In Henkel’s humidity test at 60°C and 95% relative humidity, bonded specimens retained approximately 72% of reference room-temperature strength after four weeks. These are comparative laboratory values rather than guaranteed specifications, so users should test thermal cycling, vibration, water, chemicals, and sustained loading on representative assemblies.
Store unopened containers in a dry location between 8°C and 21°C. Protect the adhesive from daylight, curing lamps, heat, and contamination. Do not return dispensed material to the original container, and review the current safety data sheet before handling.
