TEROSON MS 9399 Two-Component Elastic Adhesive and Sealant for Caravan, Railway and Marine Assembly

Category:
TEROSON MS 9399 Elastic Adhesive is a two-component silane-modified polymer adhesive and sealant developed for high-strength, flexible assembly in indoor and outdoor applications. Its viscous, thixotropic consistency resists sagging on vertical joints, while the mixed material cures at room temperature independently of atmospheric moisture. This curing behavior, combined with initial holding power and a short tack-free time, helps manufacturers achieve efficient assembly, controlled bead placement, and durable elastic bonds.

TEROSON MS 9399 Elastic Adhesive Benefits

TEROSON MS 9399 Elastic Adhesive is supplied as two components mixed at a 1:1 ratio by volume. The system is free from solvents, isocyanates, and silicone, for modern industrial elastic bonding. After curing, the adhesive remains flexible and can help accommodate vibration, movement, impact, and differences in thermal expansion between joined substrates.

The product also provides resistance to ultraviolet exposure and weathering, supporting assemblies that operate outdoors or experience changing environmental conditions. Its high viscosity allows operators to create stable beads without excessive flowing, and Henkel reports sag resistance in joints up to approximately 15 mm under the stated test method. These properties make the product suitable for both bonding and sealing functions.

Applications for TEROSON MS 9399 Elastic Adhesive

Typical applications include elastic bonding and sealing in caravan manufacturing, railway vehicle production, shipbuilding, industrial transportation, power equipment, and general manufacturing. It can be used for panels, frames, interior components, exterior trim, housings, reinforcement parts, and other assemblies where a strong but flexible bond is required.

The adhesive is available in black, gray, and white component combinations, for varied manufacturing requirements. However, adhesion performance varies with the substrate. Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from oil or grease. Mechanical roughening or a suitable primer may be required for certain materials. Henkel recommends application trials, particularly for plastics and coated surfaces.

TEROSON MS 9399 Elastic Adhesive Technical Performance

Typical cured properties include a Shore A hardness of approximately 55, tensile strength of about 3 MPa, elongation at break of approximately 150%, and tensile shear strength near 2 MPa in laboratory testing. The recommended application temperature is 15°C to 40°C. The normal service temperature range is approximately -40°C to +100°C, with short exposure up to 120°C for one hour.

Processing time at 23°C is approximately 20 minutes for white and gray versions and about 30 minutes for black. Depending on color, further handling strength is typically achieved in approximately 1.5 to 3 hours. These values are guide data rather than guaranteed specifications, so users should validate the bonding process under production conditions.

How to Apply TEROSON MS 9399 Elastic Adhesive

Install the 2 x 200 ml dual cartridge in suitable dispensing equipment and attach the static mixer. Dispense and discard the first 10 ml because the initial material may not be mixed correctly. Apply the adhesive to the prepared substrate, assemble the parts within the processing time, and remove excess material immediately.

When application is interrupted for more than five minutes at 23°C, replace the static mixer before continuing. For plastics, release agents must be removed completely. The product does not adhere to polyethylene, polypropylene, or PTFE, and stressed PMMA or polycarbonate may require compatibility testing.
