Product Overview

Momentive RTV108 is part of the SNAPSIL RTV100 Series of high-performance silicone adhesive sealants.

RTV108 is the translucent version of the general-purpose paste family. It is supplied ready to use and requires no separate catalyst, hardener or mixing operation.

When exposed to atmospheric moisture, the material begins to cure from the surface inward and releases acetic acid vapor as a normal byproduct of the acetoxy curing reaction.

Momentive RTV108 Translucent Silicone 300ml has a non-flowing paste consistency, allowing it to remain in position on vertical and overhead surfaces where self-leveling silicone products would be unsuitable.

After curing, RTV108 forms a resilient silicone elastomer that maintains flexibility over a broad temperature range.

Important Application Note

RTV108 is an acetoxy-cure silicone and releases acetic acid during curing.

For this reason, it should not be selected for delicate electrical or electronic applications where corrosion of copper, brass or other sensitive metals is unacceptable.

For sensitive electronics, a non-corrosive electronic-grade silicone such as Momentive RTV162 or an appropriate alkoxy-cure TSE series product may be a better choice.
