[Cemedine 8008 Series] Soft and not easy to peel off
In the manufacturing industry, the demand for bonding different materials in the combination of metals and plastics, soft materials and hard materials is increasing.
Cemedine has developed an elastic adhesive “Super X” that can be used for various materials.
The elastic adhesive has been improved to the current high durability based on the idea of “flexible and difficult to peel off”.
After curing, it becomes an elastomer like rubber and brings a flexible bonding design for the joining of different materials.
The wide adhesion to different materials and excellent durability correspond to solving problems of various demands such as weight reduction, function/performance improvement, and cost reduction.
CEMEDINE Super X No.8008 Elastic Adhesive provides three important characteristics: pressure-sensitive adhesion, elastic adhesion and solvent-free processing. After application, atmospheric moisture initiates curing. The surface develops tack during the early curing stage, allowing parts to be joined with useful initial holding power and reducing the need. The surface develops tack during the early curing stage, allowing parts to be joined for temporary fixtures in suitable assemblies.
The cured adhesive remains rubber-like instead of becoming rigid and brittle. This flexibility helps distribute stress created by shock, vibration and differences in thermal expansion. It is especially valuable when joining metal to plastic, hard materials to flexible materials, or components exposed to repeated heating and cooling. CEMEDINE reports durable bonding across a broad temperature region and resistance to repeated thermal-shock cycles from low to elevated temperatures.
This multipurpose industrial adhesive is suitable for bonding steel, stainless steel, aluminum, copper, ABS, polycarbonate, acrylic, nylon, PET, PPS, FRP, ceramics, wood and compatible rubber materials. Typical applications include automotive components, appliances, electrical devices, industrial equipment, housings, panels, decorative parts, signs, trim and general mixed-material assembly.
CEMEDINE Super X No.8008 Elastic Adhesive is particularly useful where different substrates have different coefficients of thermal expansion. The flexible bond line follows expansion and contraction, helping reduce stress concentration at the interface. The siloxane-free formulation also avoids low-molecular-weight siloxanes that can contribute to electrical-contact problems, supporting use around suitable electrical and electronic assemblies.
Polypropylene normally requires CEMEDINE PP-7F Primer when used with this standard Super X grade. Polyethylene, fluoropolymers and other low-surface-energy materials may require a dedicated adhesive system. Every application should be tested with the actual substrate, coating, surface treatment, joint design and service environment.
The product is based on a special silyl-group-containing polymer and is available in white, black and light-yellow transparent versions. Standard white and black grades have a typical viscosity of 85 Pa·s at 23°C, density of 1.27 g/cm³ and skin-over time of approximately 11 minutes. Their published tensile-shear adhesive strength is approximately 4.0 MPa, Shore A hardness is about 43 and elongation at break is approximately 200%.
The clear grade has a typical viscosity of 82.6 Pa·s, density of 1.07 g/cm³ and skin-over time of approximately 8.5 minutes. Its published tensile-shear strength is approximately 3.5 MPa, Shore A hardness is about 50 and elongation at break is approximately 170%. Low-viscosity black variants are also available for different dispensing and flow requirements. These values are typical references rather than guaranteed purchasing specifications.
Remove oil, water, dust, rust, paint residue and release agents from all bonding surfaces. Apply a thin, uniform layer to the prepared area. For pressure-sensitive bonding, allow the applied adhesive to develop tack, commonly for about five to ten minutes depending on temperature, humidity and coating thickness. Join the parts within the validated open time and apply firm pressure to establish complete contact.
Moisture must reach the adhesive for curing to progress. CEMEDINE states that cure typically advances about 2 mm per day from air-exposed surfaces, so thick or enclosed joints require additional time. Maintain ventilation, close the package after use and review the current Safety Data Sheet before handling.
CEMEDINE Super X No.8008 Elastic Adhesive combines broad substrate compatibility, fast room-temperature curing, initial tack, elastic stress absorption, solvent-free processing and a siloxane-free formulation. It is a versatile Japanese adhesive for manufacturers and maintenance teams requiring durable mixed-material bonding under vibration, thermal cycling and changing environmental conditions.
