When exposed to moisture in the air, the material cures at room temperature into a tough, flexible silicone rubber that helps joints withstand vibration, moisture, temperature changes, and normal mechanical movement. DOWSIL 732 Multi-Purpose Silicone Adhesive Sealant remains stable and flexible from approximately -60°C to 180°C, with short exposure peaks up to about 205°C. The black version offers higher stated temperature capability, remaining flexible up to approximately 205°C with short peaks up to 230°C. These ranges make the sealant useful for equipment and assemblies exposed to cold conditions, operating heat, or repeated thermal cycling.
The cured silicone also provides excellent dielectric properties, supporting selected electrical insulation and component-protection applications. Typical published properties include Shore A hardness of approximately 25, elongation around 540%, specific gravity near 1.04 at 25°C, and tensile strength of about 333.6 psi.
