Kafuter lists K-1668 in its solvent-adhesive range and specifies a viscosity of approximately 130,000 to 250,000 mPa·s. This high-viscosity profile helps the adhesive remain where it is dispensed instead of running across a board or down an upright component. The manufacturer also lists a drying time of less than ten minutes under its reference conditions. Actual drying and strength development depend on applied thickness, airflow, temperature, humidity, substrate porosity, and the amount of solvent that can escape from the joint.
The product is designed to provide electrical insulation and flame-retardant performance after proper application. These characteristics make it useful around components that require mechanical support without creating an electrically conductive path. Kafuter also describes the material as suitable for vertical coating, allowing operators to form reinforcing beads and localized fillets around parts that may experience vibration, movement, or handling stress.
Kafuter K-1668 Flame Retardant Electronic Adhesive can be used to position capacitors, secure coils, stabilize connectors, reinforce wires, fix cable outlets, support transformers, and hold selected components on printed circuit boards. It may also be applied in household appliances, control equipment, power supplies, communication devices, lighting products, audio equipment, chargers, and industrial electronic modules. The yellow appearance provides visible coverage, helping operators inspect bead placement during production and repair.
The cured adhesive can help reduce movement caused by vibration or transportation and can provide additional support around taller or heavier components. It is not a substitute for correct mechanical design, soldering, electrical spacing, or load-bearing hardware. Adhesion varies with plastic grade, metal finish, board coating, solder mask, contamination, component geometry, and operating environment, so representative testing is required before commercial approval.
Clean the target surfaces and remove oil, grease, dust, moisture, oxidation, release agents, flux residue, and loose contamination. Apply a controlled bead to the component base or required fixing area. Ensure the adhesive contacts both the component and the supporting surface, but keep it away from electrical contacts, adjustment points, heat-sensitive areas, ventilation paths, and parts that may require later servicing.
Allow adequate ventilation and drying before powering, packaging, or testing the assembly. Thick deposits, enclosed cavities, and low-airflow areas require longer because solvent must escape completely. Production qualification should evaluate initial positioning, full strength, vibration resistance, electrical insulation, flame requirements, temperature exposure, humidity, and compatibility with the actual board, component, coating, and cleaning process.
Kafuter lists K-1668 in 85 g tubes for workstation use and in 2.5 kg cans or 15 kg drums for higher-volume dispensing. Select packaging according to daily consumption, application equipment, solvent-control requirements, and inventory turnover. Keep containers tightly closed when not in use to limit solvent loss, viscosity change, skin formation, and contamination.
Because K-1668 is solvent based, use suitable ventilation, ignition control, protective equipment, and approved workplace procedures. Consult the current safety data sheet before handling, storage, transport, spill response, or disposal. Do not use the product near flames, sparks, or energized equipment while wet.
