LOCTITE AA 3301 Light Cure Adhesive arrives ready to dispense and requires no mixing, weighing, or proportioning. This simplifies training, reduces preparation errors, and supports repeatable manual or automated production. The low-viscosity liquid wets narrow gaps and close-fitting tolerances efficiently, helping manufacturers create clean bond lines with controlled adhesive usage.
Fast light curing is a major production advantage. Henkel reports fixture times as short as five seconds on glass or polycarbonate under suitable validated UV or LED exposure conditions. Actual curing speed depends on wavelength, intensity, exposure time, lamp distance, bond-line gap, and substrate light transmission. The product can be cured using UV and visible light with appropriately selected curing systems.
This adhesive is primarily designed for bonding rigid or flexible PVC to polycarbonate. Typical applications include medical tubing connections, transparent housings, connectors, reservoirs, diagnostic components, and selected disposable medical-device assemblies. It also offers adhesion to glass, many plastics, and most metals, allowing engineers to evaluate it for projects where at least one substrate transmits the required curing light.
LOCTITE AA 3301 Light Cure Adhesive has been tested using Henkel protocols based on ISO 10993 biocompatibility standards to assist material selection for medical-device manufacturing. This testing does not replace validation of the finished device. Manufacturers should qualify the complete assembly, cure process, sterilization method, service environment, and regulatory requirements before production.
The uncured material is a transparent, low-viscosity liquid with a typical viscosity of approximately 150 mPa·s at 25°C and a refractive index of about 1.48. After the stated light cure, Henkel publishes typical cured properties including Shore D hardness of 69, elongation at break of 50%, tensile strength of 19 N/mm², and dielectric breakdown strength of 34 kV/mm.
Typical polycarbonate lap-shear strength is approximately 5 N/mm² at a 0.5 mm gap, with substrate failure reported under the stated test conditions. These values are reference data rather than guaranteed purchase specifications. Final performance depends on component design, surface condition, adhesive quantity, curing equipment, and operating environment.
Clean bonding surfaces and remove grease, dust, moisture, residue, and release agents. Protect the adhesive from unnecessary daylight, ultraviolet light, and strong artificial lighting during storage and dispensing. Use compatible light-blocking dispensing equipment and black feed lines for automated processes.
Dispense the required amount, assemble the components, and expose the bond area to a validated UV or visible-light source. Full curing of air-exposed surfaces also requires suitable short-wave UV output. Provide cooling for temperature-sensitive thermoplastics and test each plastic grade for stress cracking before production approval. Allow bonded parts to cool before applying service loads.
