DOWSIL 3-1944HP RTV Coating is a one-component, high-viscosity silicone conformal coating developed to protect printed circuit board assemblies and sensitive electronic components. This translucent, moisture-curing material creates a flexible protective layer that provides environmental, corrosion, and dielectric protection. With no added solvents, fast surface curing, a built-in UV indicator, and UL-recognized flame-retardant performance, it is an efficient solution for professional electronics manufacturing and precision coating processes.
DOWSIL 3-1944HP RTV Coating is supplied as a ready-to-use, single-component material, eliminating the weighing and mixing required with two-part coating systems. It begins curing after exposure to atmospheric moisture and can be cured at room temperature or accelerated with heat when a shorter production cycle is required.
The high-viscosity formulation is designed to remain in critical areas where greater coating thickness is needed. It provides controlled coverage around component leads, elevated components, solder joints, wire bonds, sharp edges, and other locations where a low-viscosity coating may flow away before curing.
With a typical viscosity of approximately 53,000 mPa·s, the coating is suitable for precision needle dispensing. This dispensing method allows manufacturers to apply the material selectively instead of coating the entire circuit board, helping improve process control and reduce unnecessary material consumption.
DOWSIL 3-1944HP RTV Coating cures into a flexible silicone elastomer with a typical hardness of 36 Shore A. This flexible protective layer helps relieve stress caused by vibration, mechanical movement, and differences in thermal expansion between circuit boards, metals, ceramics, and electronic components.
The incorporated UV indicator allows applied areas to be checked under suitable ultraviolet inspection equipment. This feature helps quality-control teams identify missed sections, insufficient coverage, or inconsistencies during the production process without affecting the normal translucent appearance of the coating.
DOWSIL 3-1944HP RTV Coating is intended for printed circuit board assemblies requiring protection against environmental exposure, corrosion, and electrical leakage. It can also be used for thin-section encapsulation where selected components or connection areas require additional protective coverage.
Typical applications may include industrial control boards, automotive electronic modules, communication equipment, power supplies, LED assemblies, household appliance controls, sensors, and other electronic devices. Its high-viscosity consistency is especially useful for selective coating around taller components, exposed leads, board edges, and irregularly shaped assemblies.
The cured coating helps isolate sensitive electrical areas while remaining more flexible than many rigid protective materials. This flexibility can help reduce stress on delicate components during thermal cycling, transportation, equipment operation, and long-term environmental exposure.
Before applying DOWSIL 3-1944HP RTV Coating, ensure that the circuit board is clean, dry, and free from oil, dust, moisture, flux residue, release agents, and other contaminants. Components that must remain accessible, including connectors, switches, sockets, and test points, should be properly masked.
Apply the coating using a compatible needle-dispensing system and maintain a controlled, uniform layer over the required areas. Under typical conditions at approximately 50% relative humidity, the product reaches a tack-free state in about seven minutes. Actual curing speed depends on temperature, humidity, coating thickness, airflow, and assembly design.
DOWSIL 3-1944HP RTV Coating combines precision dispensing, flame-retardant performance, electrical protection, and flexible stress relief in one convenient material. Its high viscosity supports targeted coverage, while the UV indicator simplifies inspection and production quality control.
Compatibility, adhesion, coating thickness, electrical performance, and curing conditions should be verified using actual production components before mass application. Always consult the current technical data sheet and safety data sheet for detailed processing and handling instructions.
